The below services are part of the Stored Data transmission functional unit

ClearDiagnosticInformation

Allows the client to clear diagnostic information from the server (including DTCs, captured data, etc.)

ReadDTCInformation

Allows the client to request diagnostic information from the server (including DTCs, captured data, etc.)

Now let’s understand what are DTCs? How are they useful to the driver? How are they handled in the vehicle?

DTC stands for Diagnostics Trouble C ode. When there is a DTC set, it means that there is a fault in the system which is indicated to the driver if a critical issue has occurred or the service center can read the fault when the vehicle is brought in for a service.
